Tanzania has one of the lowest rates of student enrollment in secondary school, and keeping children in school, especially girls, has proven to be the best investment that can be made in a community. This June, a group of volunteers will be traveling around the globe to climb the largest freestanding mountain in the world and raising money to help Tanzania Development Support achieve its mission of supporting locally identified educational improvements for youth, especially girls, in the Mara region as a way to escape poverty.
We have set a goal of raising $75,000 for the 2019 Kilimanjaro Climb, which will be used to fund access to technology, resources for primary and pre-primary education programs at the library, and training library staff to manage the vast collection of books and begin to engage with adults in the surrounding villages about the value of the library. It is an ambitious goal but we believe we can do it together with your help.
